ḤADĪTH OF THE DAY

“ Abū-Tha'labah al-Khushanī said, "I came to the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, and said, 'Messenger of God, we are in a land of the people of the Scripture (1) and we eat from their vessels.' He replied, 'If you find other vessels, then do not eat from theirs, but if you do not, then wash them and eat from them.'"(2) Footnotes: (1) The peoples who were sent the Torah and the Gospel. (2) This matter is only relevant if it is proven that the people of the Scripture use their dishes, pots and glasses to cook and consume that which is considered impure to Muslims such as pork, dead meat and wine. In this case it is undesirable to use them unless there are no others, in which case they must be washed and it does not matter who washes them. ”

Sunan at-Tirmithiy

Faḍālah Ibn-'Ubayd said, "I bought a necklace made of gold and beads for twelve Dinars on the day of Khaybar. When I separated the beads from the gold, I found its value to be worth more than twelve Dinars. I mentioned this to the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, who said, 'It should not be sold until the beads are separated from the gold.'" Click on ḥadīth to read more
